dc.description.abstractThis study examines the relationship between English learning academic performance, attitudes towards mathematics, and mathematics achievement among Indonesian college students. The participants included 381 mathematics students (Mage = 19.82, SD = 0.55) from four universities in Indonesia. The study employed self-report measures to assess English learning and mathematics achievement, as well as an attitudes towards mathematics questionnaire. Structural equation modeling was applied for data analysis. The findings indicated a positive correlation between English learning and mathematics achievement, highlighting the role of language proficiency in supporting mathematical understanding. However, attitudes towards mathematics negatively impacted mathematics achievement. Additionally, English learning achievement emerged as a mediator between attitudes towards mathematics and mathematics achievement. These implications underscore the importance of creating inclusive and supportive learning environments that cater to the diverse needs of students, ultimately fostering academic success in mathematics.

The instrument used to measure attitude toward mathematics (ATM) consisting of four subscales, such as Self-Perception (6 items), Value of Mathematics (6 items), Enjoyment of Mathematics (8 items), and Perceived Mathematics Achievement (6 items). In this study, the english learning achievement (ELA) and mahematics academic performance (MAP) was assessed based on students' self-reports of their performance in the respective courses. The ELA was measured by considering two different courses: English Academic Purposes and English Basic.
